Dec 05, 2014 · Hi, I recently bought a new monitor (Asus VG248QE) to use with my Alienware M17xR4. I tried using a mini-DP to DPort cable to connect the two, but I had no luck in doing so. There was no signal on the monitor or sound from my computer indicating that something was plugged in. However, the monitor did recognize that some power was going through it as each time I plugged it into my laptop, it ... So, I just set up my Asus VG248QE, and the display is through a DisplayPort slot to my motherboard (780 Ti Classified should be here later today, and then the cable will be moved there :D ). It looks amazing so far, but I'm having trouble getting sound to come through - i.e. no sound has come through at all.
